Geographical Location
The Southside/St. Theresa is a neighborhood of approximately 20 square blocks physically located in close proximity to downtown. Southside/St. Theresa is bound by Lakewood Avenue and Interstate 147 to the North, Roxboro Street to the East, Lawson Street to the South (if it extended), and the Forest Hills community and park to the West with the Apex Street Bridge as the physical connector. The American Tobacco Trail serves as the demarcation line between the two communities.

The close proximity of the Southside/St Theresa Community to a revitalized downtown Durham cannot be overstated.
The newly renovated American Tobacco Project and Durham Bulls ballpark are within walking distance. The American Tobacco Project funded by Jim Goodman and Capitol Broadcasting in Phase 1 created 496,000 square feet of office, laboratory, research and commercial space. Phase 2 will add the influx of more than 200 residential rental units and Phase 3 will add additional office and commercial space. The project will total more than $188 million dollars upon completion.
The Durham Bulls Athletic Park opened in 1995 and seats 10,000 fans. The Durham Bulls are an AAA professional baseball team affiliated with the major league Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
The Durham Housing Authority has a senior residential center located on Lakewood Avenue. This facility serves more than 40 families.
Hayti Heritage Center is a Part of the St. Josephs historic foundation. Various African-American cultural activities such as the annual Durham Blues Festival and assorted musicals create a dynamic platform for growth.
